Galveston, Texas
Galveston Island is Texas' top historic destination, offering 32 miles of relaxing beaches, great seafood, tropical scenery, superb restaurants, marvelous downtown shopping, breathtaking Victorian architecture, numerous antique stores, incredible art galleries, plus tons of attractions, entertainment venues and world-class sportfishing.
Probably the most charming way to discover this historic city is by carriage. Take a carriage ride through the Victorian-era streets and let your driver take you back through history.
There aren't many places where you can enjoy Gulf shrimp, Louisiana crawfish, Galveston Bay oysters, and soft-shell crabs while you watch the very ships that caught them at work. The seafood is fresh and always delicious.

Cozumel, Mexico
The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from the shores of Cozumel while searching for gold. Today, visitors to the island continue to seek out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while having a great time in its many local bars and restaurants. Plus, the waters around Cozumel's sheltered coral reefs make this one of the best snorkeling areas in the world.
Don't miss the opportunity to explore the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Tulúm, majestically perched above the turquoise Caribbean. The site was occupied as far back as 600 A.D. However, it was most densely populated around 1200 A.D. You will be struck by the pyramid-shaped El Castillo, which dominates the city from atop a forty-foot cliff. The nearby Temple of the Descending God provides equally excellent insight into the architecture of the Mayan people, who gained considerable achievements in the arts and sciences, only to decline and vanish for no apparent reason.

Roatan, Honduras
This truly unspoiled island is surrounded by the world's second-largest coral reef, which houses hundreds of varieties of beautiful sea life. So it's easy to see why Roatan's waters are considered some of the best in the world for snorkeling and scuba diving. On land, the friendly, laid-back atmosphere is exactly how you'd envision it to be on an island paradise - it's perfect. There are fine restaurants, bars and attractions, such as Butterfly Park, Marble Hill Farms, the Iguana Farm and Carambola Gardens. But best of all, make sure to spend time exploring some of the most pure and untouched beaches in the Caribbean.
Explore the beautiful waters of the West End Marine Reserve as you take a scuba or snorkeling adventure. You'll see coral of all colors and an amazing array of marine life.
Honduran crafts can make a beautiful memento or gift and include wood carving (notably wooden instruments), basketry, embroidery and textile arts, leathercraft and ceramics.

Costa Maya, Mexico
Costa Maya, once a trading post for the Mayan Empire, is located in the Mexican Caribbean and is best known for its jungles, beaches, lagoons and Mayan ruins. Recent development and modern port facilities are making Costa Maya the perfect port of call. With so many activities, it will be hard to decide what to do first.
Experience the ancient Mayan City of Chacchoben. Largely unexplored until 1999, this Mayan site dates back to 360 A.D. when it played an important role in the distribution of such precious items as wood, jade and exotic birds.
Costa Maya offers jewelry stores, beachwear and Mexican specialties such as silver and handicrafts.

Yucatan (Progreso), Mexico
Founded in 1872 by Juan Miguel Castro, Progreso is situated on the Gulf of Mexico in the state of Yucatan. Heavily influenced by the Mayan culture, Progreso enjoys a simple and laid-back lifestyle. This small and humble fisherman's town is the place to explore the "unspoiled" side of Mexico. With white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, it's not hard to understand why this tranquil atmosphere is ideal for vacationing. This port town is also the gateway to Merida, the state capital of Yucatan; and Chichen Itza, the most majestic Mayan ruins in Mexico.
This is your chance to make like a great explorer. Travel into the jungle, explore the grand stone ruins of the ancient Mayans, Chichen Itza or Uxmal and try to unlock the secrets of the rise and fall of this great civilization.
Be sure to try the local Yucatanean culinary specialties, which are very different from typical Mexican cuisine. You may want to taste achiote, a sauce made of chopped tomato, onion, chilies and cilantro, or papadzules, tortillas stuffed chopped hard boiled eggs with a squash or cucumber sauce.
